    quadratic formula is x = -b +/- sqrt (b^2 - 4ac) ------------------- 2a where a , b and c are the numbers in the equation ax^2 + bx + c = 0

    you left out the sqrt its (10 + sqrt76 )/ 4 or ( 10 - sqrt76) / 4 perform the calculation in the parentheses first, then divid e by 4

    the 76 comes from the b^2 - 4ac of the formua:- 10^2 - 4*2*3 = 100 - 24 = 76

    10 - sqrt76 = 10 - 8.72 - 1.28 but you now have to divide by 4 x = 1.28 / 4 = 0.32
