## liljj1421 one year ago explain how to write a function rule from the table below. then write a function rule. |x|2|4|6| |y|1|0|-1|

1. liljj1421

which graph represents the liner function y= 1/4*-3?

2. anonymous

its the 2nd graph

3. liljj1421

wich graph represents the linear function y=1/3*x-4

4. anonymous

put x =0 => y=-4

5. anonymous

then put y=0 => x=+12

6. anonymous

c

7. liljj1421

witch graph represents the linear function y=3*x+1

8. liljj1421

sorry these ones go to the question above

I 'll write step-by-step but stay calm ! :)

19. liljj1421

I just need help with the bottom two

20. anonymous

K, you know equation of line ?

21. liljj1421

no

22. anonymous

K, dun worry , first you need to know that any line has an equation of the form : $y = mx +c$ ; where m represents the slope of that line and c is the intercept part with the y-axis , K ? |dw:1433027916301:dw|

23. liljj1421

I know that part

24. liljj1421

you don't have to explain it if you don't want to

25. anonymous

So nw wat ? We find the slope "m" of this equation , to calculate slope you can pick two points from the table randomly and name them P1 and P2 , suppose we chose these two points from the given table , P1 >> (2,1) & P2(6,-1) So to calculate the slope we use this : $slope = \frac{ y _{2} - y _{1} }{ x _{2} - x _{1} }$ Where these are the x' and y's of the picked points so for our tabel, $slope = \frac{ -1 - 1 }{ 6 - 2 } = -\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }$ So nw we get m , subs. with this value into the equation .. $y = -\frac{ 1 }{ 2 } x + c$ nw to get "c" what we do ? We easily subs. by any point from the two points we just picked and get the c ! so nw, $1 = -\frac{ 1 }{ 2 } * 2 + c$ Nw what ? It's "c = 2" :D So the equation(aka function) will be : $y = -\frac{ 1 }{ 2 } x + 2$ To be sure that this is the equation .. just dip the third point into the equation and see what happened .. It's ok ! :D Let me know if you got it :)

For the second question could U plz upload 'em again ? :)

27. liljj1421

so then what is x?

29. liljj1421

the question is witch graph represents the linear function y=3*x+1
