    one version to prove the numbers here means the measure of that angle angles on a straight line add up to 180 3 + 2 = 180 so 2 = 180 - 3 1 + 2 = 180 1 + (180 - 3) = 180 1 = 3 1 and 5 are corresponding angles (line across parallel lines ) 1 = 5 and 1 = 3 therefore 3 = 5
