    The theme is sort of what the author wants you to learn. So, it wouldn't be the protagonist. The main events goes under a summary, so it's either the moral or the main message. Personally, I think it's the main message. WARNING! The main idea and main message are different things. The main message is the main lesson an author wants you to learn by reading his work. The main idea is the topic of a story. Hope I helped :)
