Probability of selecting yellow OR purple marble= Probability of selecting yellow + Probability of selecting purple. 1. Determine the total number of marbles. 2. Find the Probability of selecting yellow marbles: # of yelllow/ # of all marbles 3. Find the Probability of selecting purplemarbles: # of purple/ # of all marbles 4. Add those two probabilities together.

All you have to do is add up all three numbers to get the total. Once you have that add the yellow and purple marbles together. The answer would be 8/15. If it's with percentages then it would be 53%. :)
