What is the measure of ∠TVU, and why? A.y, because Triangle RST is similar to triangle VUT B.y over 2, because Triangle RST is congruent to triangle VUT C.y + 55 degrees, because Triangle RST is similar to triangle TUV D.125 degrees − y, because Triangle RST is congruent to triangle TUV

they add up to 180. if 2 angles in a triangle match 2 angles in another triangle, the 3rd angles must also match (because it's the number that makes the other two add up to 180)

call the "vertical angle" x (some unknown number) in the left triangle you have 55+x+y = 180 (they have to add up to 180) in the right triangle you have 55+x + ? = 180 what must the ? be? it must be y

the point is if 2 angles are congruent, then the third angle is also. if 3 angles are congruent, the triangles are similar

angle TVU is the unmarked angle in the bottom right triangle. the 2 triangles are similar and that means the 3 angles in one triangle are exactly equal to the corresponding angles in the other triangle. Follow ?
