Ok, I guess I'll try to help.
The good thing about being freedmen were that they were free from slavery. But there were still a lot of hardships. They couldn't vote because of Jim Crowe laws. They had to do sharecropping (not exactly sure what it was, just that they still had to work for their owners.. and maybe got very little pay? im not sure.) So being a freedmen was really tough.
