Which phrase could be represented by this expression? d/2 – 5 A. twice a number decreased by five B. half a number less than five C. five less than twice a number D. five less than half a number

    So.. let's say "d" is the number... We want to know what this expression could mean: d/2 - 5 You want to note that d/2 ALSO can be written as 1/2 * d we said d = number.. therefore 1/2 *d - 5 would mean...?

    you're closeee but not quite there :) When we say: half a number LESS than 5.. this would mean: 5 - 1/2d (where "d" is the number") We want it the other way around right? 1/2d - 5 So this would mean 5 less than half a number
