now multiply first solve right side and then you can either distribute parentheses by 8 or divide 8 both sides \[\huge\rm \color{blue}{8(2x+3) }= \color{red}{2x(12)}\] so 2x times 12 = ?

to isolate x you need x variable at one side of the equal sign \[\large\rm 2x+3 = 3x\] so how would you transfer 2x to the right side ? subtract add multiply or divide ?
