I am trying to switch from cartoonishish (xD) drawings to realistic. I can draw what I need, but I can't seem to shade correctly. Any tips? I'll post a finishing picture below and see if that helps you to know how I can improve. Thanks :)

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.2Give me a sec to finish x3 And I tried to use charcoal one time, and it was just TOO MESSY. Made the pic look terrible. So I just went to use a mechanical/regular pencil

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.2I was thinking the same. I am drawing, right now, what I usually draw so you can see the difference

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0Imagine where the light is coming from, use body parts to guide you through shading. Try to understand what might be covering the light where.

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0This is a current project I am working on, try to imagine where I would shade if the light was coming from his top right side.
