In the late 1800s the United States had ended the war with Spain, while it was under the administration of President McKinley. After the war the two countries had to draw up a peace treaty, and they did this in France . McKinley wanted Spain to give up Cuba, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines. The United States and Spain argued for quite a while before Spain gave in. The two fought over the Philippines, eventually Spain agreed, but wanted $20,000,000 for all the islands in the Philippines. Many Americans opposed the fact that McKinley took Spain, they believed that the U.S should be anti- imperialistic. They believed it would be hard to colonize on the other side of the world. Eventually the senate voted, and the majority voted yes. The treaty between Spain , and the U.S had been approved and the Philippines belonged to the United States. Cuba was only 90 miles away from Florida and it was separated from Spain by the Atlantic. The Cubans did not want to be ruled by the Spanish, so the closest region they could flee to was Florida. The U.S had millions of dollars put into Cuba. The U.S had traded goods with Cuba, so it would be beneficial to help in the war to protect its businesses in Cuba. The United States officially go into the war when a warship “the Main” exploded, and sank while along the coastlines of Havana. The United States bullied Spain until they signed the peace treaty. Unlike Puerto Rico, the Philippines and Guam became territories of the United States, Cuba did not, and it became an independent country.

Wow. You've got some factual errors and a mishmash of ideas going there.
You're asking a lot of someone to rewrite it for you
I recommend you go through and rearrange you facts into chronological order. That can clear up a lot of your problems.
Then read it aloud. Make sure it flows like you'd expect an English speaker to sound.
