sorry these are some old notes same problem different letters subtract 'a' from both sides: P-a=a+b+c-a P-a=b+c subtract 'c' from both sides: P-a-c=b+c-c P-a-c=b

replace the letters with numbers its much easier but the way of solving the equation is this subtract 'a' from both sides: P-a=a+b+c-a P-a=b+c subtract 'c' from both sides: P-a-c=b+c-c P-a-c=b
