It is an expression, I don't see an equal sign or value, so what is the problem.

Is it f(x) = that expression and they want you to graph the function?

    If I make it = 0 and let x=1, then y would = -4 and y = 5.

    Factoring I now get:\[(y ^{x}-5 )(y ^{x}+4)\]If it equaled 0 (which it doesn't indicate that it does) then"\[y=(-4)^{1/x}\]\[y=5^{1/x}\]

I'm sorry I can't do anything with this. Good luck with your studies.
