Read this line from the text: "Come! Will you not like to ride a little way with me, in my beautiful chariot?" The author has King Pluto propose a ride to Proserpina using this odd syntax to confuse her into agreeing to the ride, even though she is inclined to refuse make her focus on the adventure and his apparent trustworthiness promise her a safe, uneventful ride if she will just agree to go with him surprise her with an offer to ride in his special chariot
