Determine value of k so that following system has one solution. x^2 -2x-y+4= 0 y = kx+3

    The first equation is a parabola of soe sort. So what you need to do is find where it and the line only touch at one point.

    it has something to do with b^2 - 4 a c = 0

    Well, what is the vertex of that parabola at? I ask because if you are only going to touch one point, then the vertex or near it are likely unless the line has a bunch of slope...
