The table below shows data from a survey about the amount of time, in hours, high school students spent reading and the amount of time spent watching videos each week (without reading):
Reading Video
3 1
3 2
4 3
5 4
6 6
7 7
10 8
12 8
14 9
30 15
Which response best describes outliers in these data sets?
Reading has a suspected outlier in the 30hour value.
Reading has a suspected outlier in the 30hour value, and video has a possible outlier in the 15hour value.
Neither data set has suspected outliers.
The range of data is too small to identify outliers.

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.2So first, it's good to know what an outlier is. Do you know what it means?

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.2An outlier is a piece of data that is far away from the other numbers. Ex. 1,2,1,3,4,3,2,1,60. ^0 is very unlike 1,2,3, and 4, and far away from them which makes it an outlier.

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.2Just glancing at it, you can eliminate C and D, as 30 is definitely an outlier.

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.2Well, it's so close to 9, I personally would disagree.

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.230 is 16 away from 14, while 15 is only 6 away from 9. Therefore, I would just choose A.
