I dont think that its B

- KaiserTheSlayer

so to answer this equation, you need to get rid of the absolute equation ssign

- anonymous

Alright, so first you need to know. | | That means absolute value.

- anonymous

i know that

- anonymous

I know the answer, but I'm trying to figure out how to explain it lol.

- KaiserTheSlayer

ok and when you take out the absolute value sign, you have to create two different equations, one which has the equation and the answer without the absolute value sign and one that has the equation, but the answer will be negative

- KaiserTheSlayer

is that good enough to help you find the answer?

- anonymous

sorry but not really.. they all look the same with the exception of b

- anonymous

But remember, a negative - a positive = negative.

- anonymous

so that would be -x - 5 = 3 is false

- KaiserTheSlayer

this is because you took out the | |

- anonymous

so b

- anonymous

How so Kaiser? If you take out the absolute value sign and x is a negative then -x - 5 wouldn't equal 3.

- KaiserTheSlayer

wait... i wrote the equation wrong... it would not be b

- anonymous

ya lol

- anonymous

i thought ABSOLUTE VALUE CANT BE NEGATIVE?!

- KaiserTheSlayer

so here is the formula
|x-5|=3
-|x-5|=3
solve the equation and see which of the answers fit

- anonymous

absolute value can't be negative correct.

- anonymous

SO confused 0_o

- KaiserTheSlayer

no my equation would be about correct

- KaiserTheSlayer

look at this and figure it out..

- anonymous

in your equation though lets say x = 2 so |2-5|=3 but if you have that negative sign out there -|2-5|=3 it would be says -3=3 which is false lol.

- anonymous

AHH What am i supposed to do??

- KaiserTheSlayer

do u just want the answer? or how to do it?

- anonymous

Yea cause we can just give you the answer if you want, cause i don't think we can explain this properly.

- anonymous

could you just give me the answer? The correct one??

- KaiserTheSlayer

yah it would be x-5=-3

- anonymous

C.

- anonymous

?who gets the medal

- anonymous

what grade is this anyways? lol I don't remember doing these since like 6th or 7th grade.

- anonymous

you can medal me and I can medal him or the other way around.

- anonymous

8th lol peopple keep getting dumber

- anonymous

- KaiserTheSlayer

i did this in 7th

- anonymous

ya lol and I'm in 10th

- KaiserTheSlayer
