    there's an original statement, negation, converse, contrapositive, biconditional.... if and only if fits one of those definitions. ^

    @Lynnmichael2 in symbolic terms it's P<-> Q so what is your P and what is your Q in this case?

    that's backwards... it is true that a biconditional statement creates if p then q and if q then p , but we are just trying to represent that sentence in symbolic notation

    so who's the p and who's the q for that entire sentence? we know if and only if is represented by <-> in symbolic notation A bobcat cannot purr <-> a panther does not have a long tail.

    that p is bobcat and q is panther
