Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0$$ (2x – 1)(x + 7) = 0\\ 2x\times x+2x\times 71\times x1\times 7=0 $$ Does this make sense? Can you simplify?

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1Put the two brackets separately =0 and solve

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0A simpler way is this $$ x+7=0\\ 2x1=0 $$ Because in the product, if EITHER of these is zero, the whole thing is zero. So you will have TWO solutions. That means two different values for x.

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1You will get two valves of x

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1First x+7=0 (substract 7 from both side) x=7 Second 2x1=0 (add 1 both side) 2x=1. (divide by 2 both sides) x=1/2 So you get x=7 and1/2
