    let theta = arctan(9/40), so tan(theta) = 9/40 because tan = opp/adj, we can apply these labels |dw:1434499685266:dw|

    is the reason that the opposite is 40 instead of 9 (since tan = opposite/adj) because it's inverse?

    cos(arctan (9/40)) = cos(theta) since theta = arctan(9/40)
