Which was an important result of the Emancipation Proclamation? All slaves were freed. Freedom for slaves became an official aim of the war. Each freed slave received forty acres of land.

    Britain and France could no longer afford to be seen intervening on the other side, because it would make them look pro-slavery, after they had both abolished slavery years before.
