What type of fallacy is used here in this passage? Passage: Their latest album was not good. That's why it's such a bad album. Options: A. Straw man B. Begging the question C. Ad hoc D. Ad hominem ___ I do not think that it is an example of ad hoc or straw man, but I cannot say that with 100% certainty. ___ Also, from what I remember, ad hoc is not a valid type of fallacy.

Hmm.. I'm sorry but I'm not very familiar with the fallacy concept. Maybe @Luigi0210 could help ?

We also know it can't be ad hominem because that is where a person is attacked rather than the argument, and no person is being attacked

That would be very helpful. I already tried quizlet and other sources but they just succeed in confusing me further.

Straw man is the fallacy where one pretty much takes the statement made by another and distorts it. And this doesn't involve two people so that's out.

And I've actually never heard of ad hoc but it sounds about right.. he's taking what he believes in, regardless of what others might say, and using it as evidence.. which is not an argument http://www.logicallyfallacious.com/index.php/logical-fallacies/9-ad-hoc-rescue

So straw man, ad hoc, and possibly ad hom is out. That leaves us with begging the question, which I originally believed to be the answer. However, I wasn't sure if this was ad hom because the album was being attacked.

Ad hom is the attack of a PERSON And begging the question sounds like it might work http://www.logicallyfallacious.com/index.php/logical-fallacies/61-begging-the-question But Begging question needs to have an implied question..

Got it, thank you. :) So it's between ad hoc and beg.? Based off of the two links you provided, I think it is beg.

I think you might be right.. Ad Hoc requires three parts http://prntscr.com/7jdp19 an x, y and z.. And begging the question uses circular reasoning which appears to be the case in that one.

Like, it sucks because it was bad.. and it was bad because it sucked, something like that.
