    Cities grew along railroads and canals because the government designed the cities<no? workers could not live anywhere else<< maybe?? settlers could obtain cheap land nearby<<idk there were not enough roads made of tar<<maybe

    Manifest destiny, which was expansion towards the west, allowed construction of railroads, and people liked to live near the railroads because land was cheaper than dirt, which is what it was, towns grew out of this, and made the towns into cities.

    lol its all good, and you cant get in trouble, technically you didnt give out the answer. It would be giving out the answer if you came out and said "C" or "B" lol last one. Maryland and Illinois were connected through the U.S. National Railroad U.S. National Skyway U.S. National Canal U.S. National Road<<<<<<MY ANSWER :)
