    just like animals , plants have plant hormones that regulate their growth. many plant hormones are produced synthetically now and find great application in agriculture. refer to the link below : http://study.com/academy/lesson/plant-hormones-chemical-control-of-growth-and-reproduction.html auxins is a class of plant horomone that can be used in cases as mentioned in the question ( particularly NAA )
