Jerome is cooking dinner. He needs 8 ounces of broccoli for each person. Part A: Jerome is not sure how many people will come to dinner. Write an expression with a variable that represents the amount of broccoli Jerome needs for dinner. Identify what the variable represents. Part B: If Jerome has 32 ounces of broccoli, how many people can he feed? Create an equation and show all work to solve it.

    part A :let X be the number of persons therefore you just have to multiply 8(ounces per person) by X ( the number of persons)

    part B: since 8X is the number of ounces of broccoli needed.. you have to equate 8X to 32 8X = 32 SOLVE FOR X

    Part A will be \[y=8x\], where y is the total amount and x is the number of persons. Part B will be \[32=8x\], where x is the number of persons and 32 is the total available amount. x will then be \[32/8=x=4\]
