First, you just want to simplify everything. Get x on the left side, do you know how?
anonymous
  • anonymous
yes add -x to both sides
anonymous
  • anonymous
x = 3 I just did it on a graph paper.

@horsegirl27 everyone uses direct answers
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
No not everyone and you really shouldn't.
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
Ok, with x on one side you should actually have 1 1/2 + x = 7
anonymous
  • anonymous
direct answer or not 3 was wrong because its not an answer choice i honestly just want to know how to solve this
anonymous
  • anonymous
why 1 1/2 + x ?
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
oh and I'm sorry it should be 2x!
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
because you're adding 1x to 1x. Then 2-1/2=1 1/2
anonymous
  • anonymous
its not making sense to me D:
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
hmmm to get x on one side, you have to do the opposite. It's -(1)x so you have to add x to the positive x.
anonymous
  • anonymous
so you woulndt have to multiply each set by 2?
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
Nope, you're adding them.
anonymous
  • anonymous
Just say 3 lol
anonymous
  • anonymous
so its 2x + 2 = 7
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
@alexistheking777 that's not an option.
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
and @gabalishc It's 1 1/2 + 2= 7
anonymous
  • anonymous
@horsegirl27 come on its the answer tho
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
@alexistheking777 please stop!! I am helping them and you are not needed.
anonymous
  • anonymous
so 1 1/2 = 5 what happened to the x?
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
Sorry, typo. Should be 2x.
anonymous
  • anonymous
im confused.. 1 1/2x = 5
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
No, 1 1/2 + 2x = 7
anonymous
  • anonymous
-1/2 + x + 2 = –x + 7 2x = 5+1/2 x = 11/4
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
|dw:1435175317710:dw|
anonymous
  • anonymous
i made a typo its x-7 im sorry
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
Ok then just change 7 to -7.
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
Next, do -1 1/2 on both sides.
anonymous
  • anonymous
-1/2x + 2 = -x +7
anonymous
  • anonymous
thats the correct problem im sorry for confusing you i just dont understand honestly
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
Oh ok, so now we're working with that not `-1/2 + x + 2 = –x + 7`?
anonymous
  • anonymous
yes its not -1/2 + x its -1/2x
anonymous
  • anonymous
x = -17/4 i think right?
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
Nope, that's not an option
anonymous
  • anonymous
the answer key is at the top so i dont think that is right
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
I've got this, you may now step away alex.
anonymous
  • anonymous
I'm sorry 11/4 now i feel better byee
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
Bye.
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
So @gabalishc let's continue.
anonymous
  • anonymous
i think its 5/2
anonymous
  • anonymous
11/4
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
NO.
anonymous
  • anonymous
alexis thats obviously wrong its not even a choice -_-
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
1 1/2x + 2 = -x +7 add x on both sides. 2 1/2x +2 = 7 subtract 2 on both sides. 2 1/2x = 5 divide to get x alone. You can do this yourself.
anonymous
  • anonymous
I did -1/2x + 2 = -x +7 added x to both sides and got 1/2x + 2 = 7 then subtracted 2 to get 1/2x = 5 then divided by 1/2 to get 5/2 correct?
anonymous
  • anonymous
There you go you got it.
anonymous
  • anonymous
Where's my medal?
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
Um Alex, I was the one who helped, don't mean to be rude (though you were) but first of all you don't ask for medals, and second I get the medal.
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
And I would know because being an ambi, I've studied the CoC and TaC. Looks like you may fare better if you do too.
anonymous
  • anonymous
Can I give you medal @horsegirl27 I am stupid at solving but you did good,
anonymous
  • anonymous
lmao you dont get one because in no way have you assisted me in solving this problem but thank you for the attempt I do appreciate it. Unlike other I like to learn not just get an answer so thank you @horsegirl27 for your help.
anonymous
  • anonymous
Thats harsh
anonymous
  • anonymous
I bet.. It was also rude of you to intervene and continuously give your unneeded opinion not to mention you kept giving the wrong answer. I apologize if I'm being "mean" but maybe you should think before you take action next time.
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
So I hope you understand now @gabalishc. If you need more help, just tag me!
anonymous
  • anonymous
You are in FLVS I have you in my class anyways
anonymous
  • anonymous
@horsegirl27 Will do :) @alexistheking777 Thats good to know im simply retaking the class because I'm not satisfied with the grades i received my freshmen year. I'm a senior taking AP Stat so im not completely useless i just have problems with the basics and my goal is to LEARN something so like i previously stated i do appreciate your attempt to help but I didn't learn anything from you, sorry.
anonymous
  • anonymous
you and 50,000 other people.
anonymous
  • anonymous
Imma tell on ya.......
anonymous
  • anonymous
You do that.
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
Oh must suck to be retaking a class :( I'll try to help you actually LEARN something this time though!! :)
anonymous
  • anonymous
You know FLVS will suspend you for that for Academic Integrity Violation btw I'm on Student Council @gabalishc
anonymous
  • anonymous
@horsegirl27 right lol Im trying to get into a really great university and be salutatorian I'd just prefer a better grade even though i passed the class a better college requires better grades, you know?
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. well, good luck on doing better in the future!
anonymous
  • anonymous
@alexistheking777 If you really feel the need to get me suspended from my class Alex im sorry you feel that way. I don't know you nor do I ever care to, I'm here minding my business getting my work done and your bothering me for some unknown reason if that will make you happy, satisfy your every want and need then knock yourself out. I don't have the patience for this, I was seeking guidance not a cheat cheat.
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
Well said. Direct answers don't help you learn, so it's useless to give them. Also @gabalishc you won't be suspended, you've done nothing wrong.
anonymous
  • anonymous
Actually I am on the student council and they say any activity with Open Study whether it is Answers or Help for FLVS is considered Academic Integrity Violation in the Code of Conduct and should be reported and I am loyal to my school in telling them. Just incase you wanted to know I only help NON-FLVS people.
anonymous
  • anonymous
Hence Why I was giving the wrong answer to teach a lesson but now I'mma just report it @gabalishc @horsegirl27
anonymous
  • anonymous
and if you noticed I got the answer on my own despite the answer you gave or anyone else for that matter.
horsegirl27
  • horsegirl27
Well I'm not going to involve myself as I don't know the FLVS rules. But I feel directing @gabalishc toward the answer was perfectly fair.
anonymous
  • anonymous
@gabalishc You are still posting an FLVS question which is Plagiarism since it is FLVS property and you are still getting help instead of calling a teacher. Now I'm usually not this mean and it won't be fair to you. This is a warning if you want help, ask how to do it not give a direct question. Or just call your teacher. I will not be notifying the school but I hope you learned your lesson.
anonymous
  • anonymous
And don't do it again please.
anonymous
  • anonymous
you got it.
