    at either maxima or minima , the slope of the curve is zero, so dy/dx=0 |dw:1435251358155:dw|

    to find whether it is maxima or minima , use double derivative it is maxima when when double derivative <0, and hence the curve will be concave downwards. it is minima when double derivative>0, and hence the curve will be concave upwards
