How might an author’s background and time period affect a piece of writing? They can affect the author’s perspective and in turn the theme and purpose for the writing. An author’s background and time period do not have any effect on the writing. An author’s background and time period will only affect voice and word choice. They will affect only the author’s choice of topic and the genre of the writing.
