How did the 1917 uprising against Czar Nicholas II push the United States into entering World War I? Americans had thought Czar Nicholas II was a poor military strategist. Americans felt that Russia would be able to take a more active role in fighting than it had before. Americans felt more favorable toward entering the war, because the new government in Russia was closer to a democracy than the czar’s government had been.
