Is it not possible to have an "update clock," what I mean is can there be a global clock somewhere on top or to the side of OS which says "hour till update" or something because most of these updates happen at awful times as the one that just happened. Thanks.

Well updates dont happen all the time and when they do its just for like 3mins or so.

Preetha did mention some fixes will be coming this week you can also stay tuned with our Facebook page and Twitter tbh I think it's that they fix a problem and are "ok! let's put the fix into the system... now :D" boom, three min down time ;)
