if you took out one of the predators in the food web, then you are decreasing the competition for other predators at the same time giving a chance of higher chance of survival for the preys.

the number of cows would increase, because there is one less predator to eat them

how would the population of jaguar increase if you are removing it from the system? you focus on what is left in the web and not what you took out of it.
