    transverse waves are like ocean waves moving the water up and down but the wave itself travels along the surface of the ocean. longitudinal waves are like sound waves they move forward by compressing the air particles in front of the wave which type of wave matches the description at the beginning more closely a sound wave or an ocean wave?
