How many positive multiples of 4 less than 100 are not multiples of 6?

    multiples of 6 is basically the entire multiplication table of 6 x 1 6 x 2... so we list all of those numbers up to 100.

    and multiples of 4 is the entire multiplication table of 4 x 1 4 x 2.... so we list those numbers up to 100 and then we eliminate the digits that are multiples of 6

    Since the question asks for numbers for multiples of 4 less than 100 that's not a multiple of 6, we need to compare the multiples of 4 with the multiples of 6. any number appearing in multiple of 4 that's also in multiple of 6 needs to go.
