    For melting something you have to provide energy. For example if you want to melt wax you need to heat it (remember that heat is a form of energy). Thus melting is a process which always requires energy.

    Melting!!! Solid → Liquid = to gaining (absorbing) energy which in this case is temperature

    @sugarplum15 , just to clarify, Temperature is not energy. It just the measure of hotness or coldness. Heat is energy :)
