Given that the wingspan of an aeroplane is 30m, find the plane's altitude to the nearest metre if the wingspan subtends an angle of 14' when it is directly overhead.

    |dw:1436343667526:dw| The above drawing will give you the answer - you can use the tan function to find h NOTE: it is a very minor approximation because the plane is 15m away from overhead in the drawing. However - you can be confident that the error will be so small as to be negligible in this case
