    let 42=42 % of x therfore,42=42*x/100 x=4200/42 x=100

    Is ok to do it like this I got 100 for an answer as well HERE WE GO... 42 is 42% of what? Percent ×Base=amount 0.42 × n =42 n=42÷0.42 n= 100

    You are absolutely correct.. Look at my equation closely, we are on same boat.. :P \[42 = \frac{42}{100} \times x \\ 42 = 0.42 \times x\]

    42/100 = 0.42 Also you can tell, it is of 100 because the 2 in forty two, is in the hundredths place.

    I think I should join in as well. First of all we need to convert from percentage to decimal so divide 42 by 100 or 42/100 =0.42 then we have this question 42 is 42% of what so we need to solve for x 42=0.42x now divide 0.42 by both sides and we should have x = 100
