I believe its 13 × 13 × 13

oh geez I haven't done this problem in years... but let me find the volume of the cube ok.. volume of the cube is side x side x side . A cube is a three-dimensional shape that has with equal width, height, and length measurements. so we're writing 13 three times right?

yes

ok. I'll give an example say that we have cube of side 4. since volume of the cube = side x side x side then we have 4 x 4 x 4 or \[\large (4)^3 \]
UsukiDoll
  • UsukiDoll
that exponent number 3 means write 4 3 times 4 x 4 x 4 now try apply my example to the 13 x 13 x 13
UsukiDoll
  • UsukiDoll
uh oh... label matters volume of the cube = 4 ft x 4 ft x 4 ft (4ft)^3

3 so (13)
UsukiDoll
  • UsukiDoll
yes... it should be 13^3 but I forgot to mention that the label matters as well x:/
UsukiDoll
  • UsukiDoll
so we need to apply the word "feet" or ft to this as well. we got it right, but if I remembered correctly, the label shouldn't be left behind.
UsukiDoll
  • UsukiDoll
so 13 ft x 13 ft x 13 ft = ?

13 to the power of 3
UsukiDoll
  • UsukiDoll
we got it right ... just remember the labels... (13 ft)^3
UsukiDoll
  • UsukiDoll
lots of physics problems will make you convert first so that all units are the same, and we have to keep those labels...can't drop them.

3 13 13 3 13 × 13 × 13 13

so its the 2nd one
UsukiDoll
  • UsukiDoll
hmmmmm... yeah if it wants it in exponential form.
UsukiDoll
  • UsukiDoll
which is exactly what the question is asking.

its asking how would you write it

i believe were right
UsukiDoll
  • UsukiDoll
yes.. since putting it in exponential form we need the number 3 because that would mean writing 13 3 times (13)^3 = 13 x 13 x 13
