why over 30?
Part Two: Second, research and report how our language has evolved within the last 30 years or longer. Select an adult who is 30 years or older to interview. This person can be a parent, grandparent, neighbor, teacher, etc. Ask your interviewee to identify three words or phrases used when he or she was your age and tell what those words or phrases meant. Based on the meanings of the three examples you collected, identify current words or phrases used today that have the same meaning as those from 30+ years ago. Write a brief explanation, detailing what you learned from this interview on our evolving language and what factors you feel might influence language to continually change.
thats the assignment
Aha! What luck you have! I'm 55 in Doodle years!
okay ya I see only 15 though sorry and lol @KyanTheDoodle
A common phrase when I was your age is the term "being on cloud nine" meaning that you're in paradise, dilly dallying when there's reality to focus on. No one really knows what the phrase means even today, let alone back then, but that's really common with sayings.
lol well okay thinks
thanks, are there anymore phrases
Well not a phrase per say but we used the word catsup instead of ketchup a lot.
i need one more if there are any
like the boxers?
Yeah! Back in my day, we said trousers instead of boxers. In fact, I'm not sure if boxers was even a term at all in that time.
