Variable c is 5 more than variable a. Variable c is also 3 less than variable a. Which pair of equations best models the relationship between c and a? c = a − 5 c = a + 3 a = c + 5 a = 3c − 3 a = c − 5 a = 3c + 3 c = a + 5 c = a − 3

Variable c is 5 more than variable a to change that into "math" you can think of "is" as meaning = so we can change "Variable c is" to c = now for the rest: : 5 more than variable a to figure this out, do you know what 5 more than 1 is ?

in which case you get c= 5+a for the first equation it looks like the only choice with that equation is D we don't have to check the other equation, but it would be helpful (may as learn how to do this)

Variable c is also 3 less than variable a. to get the idea, I would first use a number for "a" 3 less than 4 is 1 3 less than 5 is 2 so it looks like we are doing 4-3 or 5-3 or using "a" a-3
