Mile markers along the highway tell drivers how many miles they have traveled from one location to another. Suppose Daniel sees mile marker 141 when he gets onto the highway and mile marker 67 when he exits the highway. How far did Daniel travel on the highway?

    Use the formula I just gave you before. \(distance = |a - b| \) Subtract the two numbers and take the absolute value. It makes no difference whether you subtract 141 - 67 or 67 - 141. After you take the absolute value, the answer will be positive.
