    Everyone can agree that literacy is important. Most of my life I have spent volunteering for libraries and organizations that fight for adult literacy in deserving communities with people who need this skill to care for their loving families. There is no doubt that these movements cost money—money that can be used for many other purposes, including community cleanup, outreach, and recreation.
