what is this horizontal distance? |dw:1437442500870:dw|

I'm really confused on this entire unit.... Would the horizontal distance be (-10,-8) ? I thought you'd subtract the two points to find the distance, tell me if I'm wrong

@jim_thompson5910 ^

for point A the x coordinate is x = -8 point P has the x coordinate of x = 2 how far do you go from x = -8 to x = 2 ??

10 @jim_thompson5910

yep since the ratio is 2:1, this means that the horizontal distance from P to B is cut in half |dw:1437442904123:dw|

13. jim_thompson5910

the vertical distance from A to P is 8 units cut that in half to get 4 |dw:1437442954668:dw|

14. jim_thompson5910

so point B is at (7,4) |dw:1437443013175:dw|

The line segment is broken up in such a way that W is twice as long as V W = 2*V |dw:1437443158788:dw|
