Okay so let the total cost be 'y', and the no. of nights for which the movie is kept is 'x' So, I pay 1.50 upfront, plus a 1.25 for every night I keep, so for 'x' night I pay 1.25x bucks. So, total cost = y = 1.50 + 1.25x
