Sal's Sandwich Shop sells wraps and sandwiches as part of its lunch specials. The profit on every sandwich is $2 and the profit on every wrap is$3. Sal made a profit of \$1,470 from lunch specials last month. The equation 2x + 3y = 1,470 represents Sal's profits last month, where x is the number of sandwich lunch specials sold and y is the number of wrap lunch specials sold.

2)Describe how you would graph this line using the slope-intercept method. Be sure to write using complete sentences. 3)Write the equation in function notation. Explain what the graph of the function represents. Be sure to use complete sentences. 4)Graph the function. On the graph, make sure to label the intercepts. You may graph your equation by hand on a piece of paper and scan your work or you may use graphing technology.

@yomamabf can you help me? please!!!

well there a few things to consider... this is a 1st quadrant graph so find the y- intercept by letting x = 0 and solving for y so you need to solve 3y = 1470

12. anonymous

y=490? @campbell_st

13. campbell_st

next you need to find the slope of the line 2x+3y = 1470 so 3y = -2x + 1470 then divide by 3 and you get $y = -\frac{2}{3}x + 490$ so starting at the y- intercept, go right 3 units and down 2 units or some multiply of that say 30 right and 20 down |dw:1437595773582:dw| then draw a line

14. campbell_st

that's correct for the y-intercept

15. anonymous

so whats nexts?

16. anonymous

what i need to do i see you solve everything

17. campbell_st

in function notation its just $f(x) = -\frac{2}{3} x + 490$

18. anonymous

so we done with the first question?

19. campbell_st

so what this is saying is that as the number of sandwiches increases the number of wraps decreases. so for every 30 sandwiches sold the wraps are decreasing by 20

20. campbell_st

to graph the function you already have the y-intercept so then find the x-intercept and let y = 0 so you need to solve 2x = 1470 hope it makes sense

21. anonymous

x=735? @campbell_st

22. campbell_st

that's correct, so make the x intercept and draw a line between the y-intercept and the x- intercept.

24. anonymous

@campbell_st

25. campbell_st

that's correct

26. anonymous

thank you @campbell_st can we move to the question number 3? please

27. campbell_st

I posted a solution to 3 and 4 above...

28. anonymous

really? i dont see ;/

30. anonymous

its that the answer for number 4 right? @campbell_st

31. campbell_st

look for the function notation... above... and there is an explanation there as well well remember the graph is 1st quadrant... as you can't make a negative number of sandwiches or wraps...
