    Sorry about my joke above & welcome to OS. An isosceles triangle is a triangle that has at least two congruent sides. The congruent sides are the legs. Since you are given the lengths of the legs, you can set them equal to each other and solve for x. x + 1 = -x + 7 Can you solve this equation for x? Once you have the value of x, you can plug it in the expression for the base and you can find the length of the base. The base has length 3x - 3. Find x and then plug in the value you find for x in 3x - 3 to find the length of the base. If you have any questions, just ask.
