## lokiando one year ago A piece of cloth is folded into a square with a side length measuring x inches. When it is unfolded, it has an area of x2 + 27x + 162 square inches. Which could be the dimensions of the rectangular piece of cloth when it is unfolded? Remember, the area of a rectangle can be determined using the formula A = lw.

HI!!

3. misty1212

what a weirdly worded problem (again)

4. lokiando

yes :(

5. misty1212

i think you can ignore the words, and factor $x^2+24x+162$

6. misty1212

or see which product multiplies out to $$x^2+27x+162$$ pretty clearly it is not A,, B or even D since the product of the last two numbers has to be $$162$$

7. lokiando

it is not factorable

8. misty1212

sure it is

9. misty1212

$18\times 9=162$ and $18+9=27$

10. lokiando

okay

11. misty1212

might not be obvious at first, but it is easy if you cheat i kinda suck at factoring, so i always cheat
