    Oops. I got 30-60-90 mixed up with this. I just tried using soh cah toa and got o=10 a=10 h=10^2, which doesn't make any sense. I'm not sure what to do now

    So for the base of the triangle we can simply do \[b = 22-12 = 10\] as we know the side of the square is 12, and all the sides of the square are the same.

    Yes, it's a square, so now you can get the total area using \[A_{total} = a^2+\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }ab\] Where a = 12 b = 10

    Yeah, so it's not a square...we can use the tan ratio \[\tan \theta = \frac{ opp }{ adj } \implies \tan \theta* adj = opp \implies \tan(45)*10 = opp = 10\]
