    but yes the only value z can't be for this function is -1/4 since it means we would be dividing by 0 here

    4z+1=0 subtract 1 on both sides 4z=-1 do you know you are going to divide both sides by 4 right?

    yes so the 4 in 4z gets cancelled out & whats left is z = -1/4

    dividing both sides by 4 4z/4=-1/4 4/4=1 so you can say you canceled on the factors of 4 on top and bottom on the left hand side giving you z=-1/4

    anyways yes the fraction is undefined at z=-1/4 because it means we would be diving by 0 if we plug it in.
