    draw a line EB now its split into a triangle and a trapezoid. area of the triangle = 0.5 * base * height area of the trap ezoid = (height/ 2) * sum of the parallel sides

    you use the boxes to count the length of a side

    count the lines to find the length base of triangle = 10 and height = 3

    so 3 boxes would mean the side is 3 lengths long

    so for the triangle you would do 3x4=12/2=6

    so from the height of the trapezoid is 6 and the base is 7

    then the other triangle would be 6x3=18/2=9
