Why did the French government send Samuel de Champlain to set up a colony in Quebec? to spread the Catholic faith among the natives to form an alliance with the natives against the Spanish to monopolize the fur trade with the natives to form an alliance with the natives against English colonists

    I believe the French wanted to further the riches gained from furs and Quebec was a way of doing that.
